Home-Flavored
Graphic Design, WIP
Home-Flavored is a zine that explores personal memories connected to Asian condiments. Through a combination of visual storytelling and written recollections, the project examines how everyday flavorings carry emotional weight, cultural identity, and sensory memories, especially for those living far from home.
The front pages feature stylized illustrations of iconic condiments, inviting viewers to guess and recognize them. The back pages include intimate stories and reflections from myself and friends, capturing the role these condiments play in our lives beyond the kitchen.

Soy sauce for stir-fries, a quick bowl of rice with Lao Gan Ma chili oil at midnight, a simple yet satisfying egg mayo sandwich, warm miso soup with tofu, a few drops of sesame oil on freshly cooked soup noodles… These flavors are more than just ingredients. They are reminders of home, comfort, and shared experiences.
As an Asian living in New York for nearly a decade, this zine is my way of preserving and celebrating the emotional richness hidden in the simplest tastes.
