The Meaning of Numbers
Diverse cultures interpret numbers differently, sometimes with opposite meanings. For instance, "666" signifies "evil" in the West but "awesome" in China. "555" means "laughing" in Thailand but "crying" in China.
To bridge these cultural gaps, I created a website and a series of posters that visualize these number meanings. Displayed on the California College of the Arts campus, they encourage conversations among students from various backgrounds and uncover the rich stories within different cultures.
People can also interact on the website and read the story behind each number.
